PLANS for a new community garden in Pegswood have suffered a setback.
The project, led by the Pegswood Community Action (PCA) residents’ group, would provide opportunities for planting and relaxation on a triangular plot of open land behind John Street, Edward Street and Charles Street and designs were drawn up by a landscape gardener.
But a funding application to the SITA Trust was unsuccessful, meaning the group will now have to look elsewhere for the required financial support.
PCA Chairman Anne Stonell said: “There’s frustration that we don’t seem to be getting anywhere with this project.
“Hopefully, we will be able to find another provider and it will go ahead in the not too distant future.”
