A LOTTERY boost of £2.8million was handed to the Morpeth area last year – and now beneficiaries have been given the chance of further funds.

A total of 31 grants were awarded in the area through the National Lottery to support local arts, sports, heritage and community work.

They include £50,000 to Morpeth Golf Club to improve facilities, £7,440 to Pegswood Allotment Association for an office and storage container and £8,710 to Wansbeck Golden Age Forum to address older people’s mobility problems.

Now nominations are open for the National Lottery Awards to recognise the work of grant beneficiaries.

There are seven categories – sport, heritage, arts, environment, health, education and voluntary/charity – and the winners receive £2,000.

For more details or to nominate a project visit www.nationallotteryawards.org.uk or call 0207 293 3599. Entries must be received by 9am on Tuesday, March 19.
