A POLICE station was taken to the public as officers tried to find out more about key community concerns.
The Morpeth Neighbourhood Policing Team led the initiative, taking the mobile police station to Pegswood for a weekend.
Local beat officers set up the station as part of an engagement plan.
The initiative aimed to give residents an opportunity to visit the facility, speak to police and discuss any concerns they may have had, as well as meet their neighbourhood team.
More than 80 people took up the offer and gave important feedback to PC Mick Leybourne, who has been the area’s main officer for 12 years, PC Lee Taylor, who has recently joined the Morpeth and Pegswood team, and Community Support Officer Emma Grey.
Of those who spoke to the officers, 61 per cent were satisfied with local policing matters and had no issues of concern.
Others highlighted problems of dog fouling, speeding motorists, anti-social behaviour and parking.
The feedback will be used to inform future police operations.
PC Leybourne said: “As a result of the feedback, Morpeth Neighbourhood Team has made speeding and anti-social behaviour a priority again this month and will be carrying out patrols and operations to combat concerns.”
PC Taylor added: “By getting out into the community we are able to engage with people in that area, rather than asking people to come to us.
“This feedback is crucial to our policing strategies and allows us to tackle matters most important to the community. The issues raised are matters we can work together with our partners to tackle.”
