A NEW music extravaganza in Morpeth has been hailed a success.
Groups and performers from across Northumberland and the UK took to the stage at the Riverside Lodge, High Stanners, for River Fest.
Crowds were wowed by a mixture of music styles. The two-day event was headlined by Prelude and the Trevor Sewell Blues Band.
One of the acts that went down really well was Mitford resident Anna Corcoran. She recently did a session at BBC Radio Newcastle for BBC Introducing’s latest national series.
Main organiser Sue Brind said: “There was a lot of positive feedback from the musicians, who thought the venue was excellent, and those who came along to watch were impressed with high quality of the programme from start to finish.
“I’m grateful to those who attended over the two days and the staff at Riverside Lodge for their efforts.
“The weekend has given me confidence that River Fest can be a successful annual event and the venue will host well-attended concerts on a regular basis.”
Venue @ Riverside Lodge was set up in the function room at the building after owners Bill and Liz Durning decided they wanted to stage more music-related events.
They were advised to get in touch with Ms Brind, who has a background in music promotion, and after a few meetings, the facility was established.
Upcoming concerts include From the Jam on June 23, there will be nights for local musicians to showcase their talent and there will be some broader activities too, such as a workshop by the Newcastle Panto Company in the summer.
