PUPILS have come face to face with a politician to press the fight for education for all.

Ellington First School is taking part in the Send My Friend To School campaign for the second year running to remind world leaders of their promise in 2000 that every child should have the right to a quality education and well-trained teacher by 2015.

Pupils throughout the school created their own ‘ideal teacher’ with a special message to highlight the range of inspirational and learning opportunities they enjoy and push forward the campaign.

Berwick MP Sir Alan Beith called into school to collect the messages last week and discuss the children’s project.

He told them he would take their messages to London and pass them directly to Prime Minister David Cameron so that he can use them in discussions with leaders of some of the world’s richest countries at the G20 summit in the autumn.
