The A1 in Northumberland has just reopened after a serious crash earlier today.
The road was closed after a collision between two vehicles at Stannington at around 3.50pm.
Emergency services were in attendance alongside the Northumbria Police helicopter.
Traffic was diverted at the Stannington interchange and through Morpeth while the accident was cleared.
One driver, who was stuck in traffic for around an hour at 5pm, reported seeing five ambulances, including three ambulance cars, heading southbound just past Stannington as well as the police helicopter and fire crews.
There are likely to be long delays on the road as well as through Hepscott and Morpeth as a result of the diversion.
