HISTORY will be in the making next week as Northumberland takes its place in a national event.
For the first time, councils, civic leaders, community groups and charities across the British Isles will be invited to stage ceremonies for Commonwealth Day.
A total of 500 Commonwealth flags will be raised at 10am on Monday, including one at County Hall in Morpeth. A Commonwealth Affirmation and message from the Queen will be read out.
Members of the public are invited to attend to show their commitment to and appreciation of the Commonwealth and its values.
