Voting is now open to name Morpeth’s community champions.
The Morpeth Civic Awards are organised annually by Morpeth Town Council to recognise outstanding community servants and organisations.
There are gongs for Townsperson, Young Townsperson, Achievement, Sport, Leisure and Culture and Business, as well as the Community Award.
Nominations have now closed for this year’s honours, but the community gong is decided by public vote, and the ballot is under way.
There are two shortlisted nominees from which to choose.
They are the Morpeth Flood Action Group (MFAG) and Morpeth Antiquarian Society (MAS).
MFAG Chairman Alan Bell said: “It is an honour to be nominated in so far as people recognise that we are still working on behalf of the residents of Morpeth to ensure that the alleviation scheme and other aspects of flooding are addressed properly.”
MAS member Kim Bibby-Wilson said: “We are deeply honoured to be nominated and to be in the company of such a worthy organisation as the flood action group.”
To cast a vote visit Morpeth Town Hall, or log onto www.morpeth-tc.gov.uk by Tuesday, April 22.
Awards will be presented at Morpeth Town Hall on Wednesday, May 7.
