Northumberland athlete Laura Weightman has been selected to represent Team England at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
The 22-year-old from Lesbury has been called up alongside fellow female 1500m runners Hannah England and Jemma Simpson.
The Morpeth Harrier put herself in contention for the team with a 4:02.72 personal best at the Eugene fixture of the Diamond League at the end of last month.
Weightman, a finalist at the London 2012 Olympics, said: “I’m so pleased to have been selected to compete in my first Commonwealth Games.
“I am so lucky to have another event so close to home. Exciting summer ahead.”
Commonwealth Games England announced the selected athletes today. The full squad of 129 includes 42 athletes who have previous Commonwealth Games experience, four of whom are current or previous champions, as well as emerging talent who will be making their mark in the Games which begin on July 23.
