A spa at Longhirst Hall that has now closed has come in for criticism.

Lindis Pattison-Tadman, who lives in Cheshire, got vouchers for Decoro last September. She gave them to twin sisters Karen Mavin and Kay Pattison as a birthday present.

They were valid for 12 months and the duo were planning to use them this summer, but they then discovered that the business had shut down.

A post on Decoro’s Facebook page earlier this year said: “Due to circumstances surrounding the closure of Longhirst Hall, it is with sadness that we must announce the closure of Decoro Spa as from the 7th May 2014.

“Would anyone with valid gift vouchers please contact us immediately to book in before this date. Anyone who has a booking after this date, we will be contacting you, or you can give us a call.”

Ms Pattison-Tadman said: “When my sisters called the spa to book an appointment there was no response, so they went up there and found out that it had closed.

“The staff would have had our details on record, so we should have received a call or email to let us know what was happening and give Karen and Kay the opportunity to make a booking before it shut down.

“How were we supposed to know that a message had been posted on its Facebook page?

“I have been trying to find out who was running the spa and have contacted the owners of Longhirst Hall (Felton Property & Investments) so we can get a refund, but I have not heard back from anyone.”

Felton Property & Investments director Stephen Cowell said: “The staff at Decoro did their best to get in touch with everyone who had a voucher, but inevitably some people were missed and so we’re in the process of getting in touch with them to sort out their refund.”
