AMATEUR snappers in Northumberland have the chance to make their garden more stunning if they capture on camera their favourite view of the county.

The LOVE Northumberland campaign has launched a photography competition to raise awareness of the environment it wants to protect and enhance.

Entrants can upload their best shots to the county council’s Facebook page and the winner will receive £50 worth of garden centre vouchers.

Council Executive Member for Infrastructure and the Environment Isabel Hunter said: “We are really looking forward to seeing photos that show what residents feel is the very best about our county.

“These could be anything from an iconic place like Bamburgh Castle, Hadrian’s Wall or Seaton Delaval Hall, to a view from someone’s favourite walk or favourite picnic site.

“We are interested in anything that promotes Northumberland as a green, clean and beautiful place to live and visit, with a particular focus on the environment.”

Entrants will need to provide their details to say that they support the LOVE Northumberland campaign by going to www.northumberland.gov.uk/lovephoto

Visit www.facebook.com/NorthumberlandCC to enter the competition. Simply post your photo onto the county council’s wall and tag yourself in the picture – you can send photos that include people, but must get their permission first.

If you don’t have access to Facebook, you can email your picture and details to communications@northumberland.gov.uk

The closing date for entries is March 31.
