A public payphone in Morpeth is set to be removed.
BT is planning to close more than 60 of these boxes across Northumberland. Among this number is the facility next to the Sun Inn at High Church.
The county council can exercise a right of veto and it is responsible for the consultation process. It has posted a First Notice, saying whether it agrees or objects to each proposal following initial community comments.
According to the document, nine calls have been made from the phone box next to the Sun Inn in the last 12 months. The authority agrees with the removal plans at this stage.
Residents can put forward their comments between now and December 15 and the council will set out its final decision by December 21. Send responses to central.planning@northumberland.gov.uk quoting reference 14/03443/BT.
