A month-long police operation found only one speeding driver out of more than 800 checks.
Extra officers were deployed to check motorists’ speeds in Pegswood, Longhirst, Mitford, Hepscott and Stobhill throughout November.
And while 809 vehicles were clocked over the period, just one was caught travelling over the speed limit.
Neighbourhood Sergeant Sharon Wilmore-Greaves said: “Speeding motorists is one of the things local residents of Morpeth are most worried about and we’re committed to tackling the issues of concern to them.
“Out of more than 800 vehicles that were checked, only one was found to be speeding. That’s really reassuring and shows that the message about how dangerous speeding is is getting through to the majority of drivers on our roads.”
The activity was part of Northumbria Police’s road safety campaign Operation Dragoon.
Officers also worked with the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) to check other road-related offences. Sixteen vehicle checks were carried out and seven prohibition notices were issued.
