Ambulance chiefs in the region have announced that more resources will have to be used to assist the most vulnerable patients as a result of high levels of demand.
Along with many other organisations of its type in England, the North East Ambulance Service has raised its operational status to ‘severe pressure’. It was getting harder for the service to respond to emergency calls in a timely manner.
This means that some patient transport service vehicles will move onto emergency care frontline services, paramedic trainers and other clinical staff working in support services will return to frontline duties and clinically qualified managers will be made available for frontline duties.
