THE shortlist has now been revealed for this year’s North East property ‘Oscars’.
A record 97 entries were submitted for the RICS North East Renaissance Awards, which were set up by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors nine years ago to recognise the best property projects in the region.
After judging by a panel of industry experts they have been whittled down to a shortlist of 55 projects and a second round of judging is now under way to decide which ones will take the prizes.
Categories include Building Conservation, Commercial Property, Community Benefit, Design and Innovation, Infrastructure, Regeneration, Residential Property and Tourism and Leisure, with an overall Project of the Year prize for the best entry.
Cockle Park Tower in Northumberland is shortlisted for the Building Conservation prize, while HMP Northumberland is among those going for the Infrastructure award.
The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in Newcastle Civic Centre on Friday, April 27. Tickets are available from Sue Doberman on 0191 221 0359 or by email to sdoberman@rics.org
