A STATELY home near Ponteland has unveiled a special event to celebrate 20 years as a wedding venue.
Dissington Hall at Dalton first opened its doors to those looking for a unique place to hold a reception in 1992.
Since then, almost 1,000 bridal couples have chosen the Grade II listed Georgian building in which to celebrate their nuptials.
To mark the anniversary, the mansion’s owners are holding a weekend of special events next month, including a dinner and disco, and they are appealing to anyone who chose it as their wedding venue to get in touch and come along to join the celebrations.
As well as being licensed to hold civil ceremonies, the hall also offers exclusive use of its function rooms, a heated marquee and an en-suite bridal room.
Wedding parties choosing to extend the celebrations into the evening can enjoy finger buffet meals for up to 200 guests, with dancing and a late licence until around midnight.
Gill Brown, who co-owns the building with husband Michael, said: “Dissington really is an idyllic wedding venue and those who choose it love being able to have exclusive use of it for the day.
“We’ve kept in touch with a number of our brides over the years but, sadly, we’ve lost track of others.
“We’d really love as many as possible to get in touch and, hopefully, come along to the event and celebrate with us.”
The celebrations will begin on Saturday, April 7, with a four-course dinner followed by a disco, with guests asked to dress as if attending a wedding.
A mobile photo studio will be on hand to capture the occasion and those attending will have the opportunity to have a dance in the Billiard Room.
Tickets for the event cost £39.50.
On Sunday, April 8, the hall will be open from noon until 4pm for visitors to enjoy pre-booked tours of the historic property, which was once owned by the family of Admiral Lord Collingwood.
