Anti-smoking body sets major target

A regional organisation has announced ambitious plans to cut smoking rates to five per cent by 2025.

Fresh, which covers the North East, says the move would save thousands of lives and an estimated £100million a year.

Acting director Lisa Surtees said: “We do not want children in the North East growing up seeing smoking and the diseases caused by tobacco as a normal part of life.”
