A community clean-up day will take place in Lynemouth this weekend.

Resident Lynn Bird was so fed up with the state of Lynemouth Dene that she approached the parish council to ask for permission to clear it.

The council agreed and the following day several people knocked at her door offering to help.

Now a group of residents will meet behind Lynemouth Children’s Centre on Sunday, at 10am, to take part in the clean-up, and it is hoped that it could become a monthly event.

Mrs Bird said: “There is lots of wildlife down there and I was concerned about the mess. There is litter and rubbish from one end to the other and it is all overgrown.

“It could be really lovely. There are reed beds and ponds, and I’m just starting to do photography and there are so many birds to take pictures of.

“I will be suggesting that we form a Friends of the Dene group and we could meet maybe once a month to do a four or five hour tidy-up.”

Everyone is welcome to attend the clean-up.
