HUNDREDS of pounds worth of garden tools have been stolen from a shed in Pegswood.
Thieves cut the padlock from the shed at an address in Morpeth Avenue, stealing items from inside.
Among the haul taken were two white Ryobi strimmers, a white Ryobi hedge-cutter, a red Makita hedge-cutter, a red Honda generator and a yellow strimmer.
The burglary was carried out between 7pm on Friday, March 30 and 7am the following day.
On the same night, thieves also targeted a red Yamaha motorbike in Hebron Avenue.
They cut through one locking device, but were thwarted by a second and left empty-handed.
Morpeth Inspector Dave Simpson said: “We would like to hear from anyone who has any information in relation to these offences, especially if anyone has been offered any of the stolen gardening equipment taken from the shed.
“It is also increasingly important that all residents take security of their items seriously and ensure strong padlocks and other security equipment are used to protect property.
“If the owner of the red Yamaha had not taken the sensible steps of securing his motorbike in the way that he did then that too would have been taken.”
Officers are appealing for any witnesses to the crimes to come forward, as well as anyone who may have information about the whereabouts of the machinery.
They should contact police on 101, ext 69191, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
