THERE is now just one name missing from this Image of Yesteryear following several updates in the Herald.

The photograph of the opening of the Chapman Gallery at King Edward VI School in 1986 has been re-published several times since it featured in our nostalgia column on December 22 last year as different members of the public came forward to identify the group.

Now Brian Hedley, of Shadfen, along with a number of other Morpeth residents, has informed us that the man pictured fifth from the left is The Rev Canon Geoffrey Bateson, who was a Governor of the school.

The only person remaining to be named in the picture is the woman shown far left.

The others in the line-up, and their positions at the time, are, left to right, Chairman of the Parents’ Association Jimmy Purvis, Head of Design and Technology Trevor Downing, Girls’ School teacher Mrs Chapman, the Rev Geoffrey Bateson, Headteacher Michael Duffy, one of his predecessors George Chapman and teacher Ken Moore.
