TRADERS in Morpeth have been given a helping hand with attracting people into their shop.
Northumberland County Council teamed up with Isobelle Hodgson of Visobelle Displays to offer a free Window Dressing and Visual Merchandising workshop to the town’s independent retail businesses at St James’s Community Centre in Wellway.
Ms Hodgson, whose clients have included Estee Lauder and Revlon, covered topics such as the importance of window dressing, ways to attract customers to your window, planning a display and lighting. The session also saw participants making their own eye-catching items to good effect.
Among the people attending was Christine Irvine, who runs Secrets Lingerie in Newgate Street.
She said: “Your shop window is your main selling point so it was an extremely useful exercise and everyone who took part enjoyed the workshop.
“We picked up some useful tips on how to make it more attractive to people without having to go through a huge expense. Hopefully, there will be another session like this in Morpeth.”
This was one of four workshops to be funded and organised by the county council’s Regeneration (North) Team.
