Traders dig in to blooms

TRADERS are digging deep to keep Morpeth’s Bloom efforts on track.

The Herald previously reported that the Morpeth and District Chamber of Trade was concerned about the amount of resources it could put into Morpeth In Bloom this year after its funds were almost wiped out in a suspected theft.

But now, thanks to department store owner Richard Rutherford, who has offered to underwrite the bills, and support from Northumbrian Water, it is hoped that it will be business as usual.

Traders will be offered hanging baskets, troughs and other planters for their premises at a small charge to ensure the town looks at its blooming best.

Members of the chamber plan to visit individual businesses over the next week to discuss the scheme.

And anyone interested in taking part can also contact Chairman John Beynon at john.baynan@live.com to find out more.
