A HELPFUL handbook for the over 50s in Northumberland has been republished – and this year there are more copies than ever.
The annual Golden Guide provides information about key local services, including leisure, transport and care, as well as handy tips on issues such as money and health.
The free guide is supported by Northumberland County Council, Northumbria Healthcare Foundation Trust, Age UK and Isos Housing, and this year an extra 1,000 copies have been funded by the Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust (NTW), taking the total printed to 6,000.
Editor Heather Alabaster said: “People find the Golden Guide so useful that now we get requests from all over the country, and it’s not just older people – their families, friends and carers want them too.
“Last year we promised to print more so we’re delighted to have found sponsorship from Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust, which has enabled us to publish an extra 1,000 copies.”
NTW Executive Director of Nursing and Operations Gary O’Hare said: “We’re very pleased to support the Golden Guide this year. It’s an excellent way for people to stay in touch and it fits with our own commitment to provide the best information we can about our health and support services.”
Northumberland County Council Director of Adult Services and Housing Daljit Lally added: “We’ve supported the Golden Guide for some years now because it’s really important that people can easily get information about the different services and help available.”
The guide is available at venues such as libraries and Citizens’ Advice Bureaux, or from Age UK Northumberland on 0845 095 0150.
A copy will soon be available on the websites of the partners, as well as at www.alabasterpublishing.co.uk
