A HEALTH organisation that serves Northumberland residents has been shortlisted for multiple national healthcare accolades.

After a record number of entries, Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is up against the very best of the NHS in four categories of the Health Service Journal Awards.

It is among the top trusts for the board leadership award. Its board has created open lines of communication from the frontline to the very top of the organisation and a set of values which makes the needs of patients a priority.

The trust has been recognised in the provider trust of the year section for its commitment to continuous improvement and the strong engagement which exists between its clinicians and managers to provide the very best care for patients.

For the primary care and community service category, it highlighted its unique relationship with Northumberland County Council. For the past 10 years, it has been working closely to integrate health and social care to provide truly joined-up and seamless services for patients across the county.

And for the secondary care service re-design award, it put forward the speedy and high quality care given to patients suffering from broken hips.

Over the coming weeks, Northumbria Healthcare will complete presentations and interviews with judging panels made up of 85 senior and influential figures from the health sector.

The trust’s chief executive, Jim Mackey, said: “To be shortlisted in so many categories is really quite special and all of our staff should be rightfully very proud of the compassionate and high-quality care they are delivering day in, day out for our patients.”
