A new transport service has hit the road to help build bridges between prisoners and their families.
The prison visits transport service has been set up by charity NEPACS, which provides a range of support for the families and friends of prisoners in the region.
There will be two coach services running to HMP Northumberland in Acklington from Gateshead and Newcastle, and another one will run between Darlington and HMYOI Deerbolt in Barnard Castle.
Funding was secured from the Northern Rock Foundation to support the links, while a competition was organised for young people to design the logo and poster for the minibus.
The charity is still seeking volunteer drivers and booking workers. For details call 01670 761578, or email athorp@nepacs.co.uk
