VOLUNTEERS are needed to help North East youngsters learn about the world of work.

Education charity Young Enterprise helps more than 8,000 young people aged four to 25 in the region each year to learn about business through its classroom programmes.

But this year so many students are signing up that it needs an extra 50 volunteers to help deliver the scheme.

Programmes include Learn To Earn, which dispels the myths of celebrity lifestyle and underlines the value of education, Personal Economics, which challenges students to manage their money, and The Entrepreneurship Masterclass, which helps students turn their business ideas into reality.

Volunteers need only to have experience of work and a desire to inspire young people.

They will guide and advise pupils through the structured sessions, using their own stories, enthusiasm and experience to help the young people understand the realities of working life.

Training is offered and each volunteer will be given a detailed handbook, while Young Enterprise staff will be on hand throughout.

For more information, or to volunteer, email laura.gillespie@young-enterprise.org.uk
