A brand of chocolate biscuits aimed at the children’s market could contain a health risk.
Tesco has recalled its Mini Monkey Milk Chocolate Biscuits because they include peanut protein, which is not identified on the label.
The protein addition means the product a possible health risk for anyone who has an allergy to peanuts.
A product recall notice from Tesco said: “Through testing we have become aware that peanut protein may be present in Tesco Mini Monkey Milk Chocolate Biscuits.
“The product has a ‘may contains’ nut warning, but peanut is not declared on the product label.
“This product may be unsafe for consumers who are allergic to or intolerant of peanuts.
“Tesco apologises to our customers for any inconvenience caused.”
Anyone who has purchased the product from the superstore is asked to return it to where it was purchased from and a full refund will be given. No receipt is required.
